We’re Ben and Sarah, and we want your help.

Together we can pass the Minnesota Recycling Refund Act and create a ten-cent refund for beverage containers.

This bill demonstrates how more options yield better results. Minnesota is known as a leader in conservation. But the reality is that our current recycling rate for beverage containers is about 35%. We can do better. States with similar laws have recycling rates in the 90% range. If we pass this bill, we will too.

Our current curbside system is a great way for most of us to recycle but beverages are most often consumed away from home and have a disproportionately high litter rate. By giving people a simple incentive to recycle when the curbside option isn’t immediately available, we will change habits. Small, simple changes are all we need to eliminate our waste problem.
